1. Which schools receive a grant from the Ministry of Education and require a Certificate of Eligibility for admission?

Students registered from pre-kindergarten to grade 6, in the majority of our schools, do not require an Eligibility Certificate; Akiva School and Vanguard Quebec School receive a grant from the Ministry of Education for their elementary students and are therefore an exception. At the secondary level, the boarding schools and Alexander von Humboldt German International School do not receive a government grant. Students do not require an Eligibility Certificate to attend these secondary schools. All other secondary member schools receive a grant from the Ministry of Education and students must therefore have an Eligibility Certificate to register in these schools.

2. Is my child eligible? How do I apply for an Eligibility Certificate for my child?

The school which has accepted your child will process your application if he/she meets the criteria for eligibility. For general information contact the Ministry of Education of the Province of Quebec.

3. Does QAIS rank its member schools?

QAIS strongly believes that each member school has a unique vision and mission. Ranking our schools would contradict this belief as it is based on the premise that the schools being compared share a common mission. A parent is encouraged to identify the school which best meets the needs of his/her child.

For more information on ranking, please visit our Policy on Ranking found on our "About / Mission Statement" section.

4. When can I expect to hear from the Admission Office?

A majority of the member schools notify parents of acceptance on or after November 30th for the following academic year. A confirmation from the parent regarding his/her choice of school would be requested by December 15th at the earliest. This time-line does not apply to our boarding schools or the Alexander von Humboldt German International School. The following schools have adopted a common QAIS admission date.
Centennial Academy
École Bilingue Notre-Dame de Sion
Emmanuel Christian School
Hebrew Academy
JPPS-Bialik
