Admission Process and Entrance Exam Calendar
The Admission process in QAIS schools differs between schools; however, the goal is always to provide families the opportunity to better understand the school and for the school to get to know the family that is applying, in order to best assess if it is the right "fit" for the child. QAIS schools pride themselves on admitting children who will develop and blossom in their school environment and who will be excited, curious, and motivated learners. This is why the admission process can include some or all of the following: a school visit, an invitation to the school's open house, an entrance examination, an analysis of the formal application, and an interview.
UPDATE FOR 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR:
QAIS Common Admission Test (CAT) – Secondary I Applicants
In response to the challenges associated with the pandemic and our collective desire to ensure health and safety, the Common Admission Test for students entering grade 7 in September 2021 has been suspended for the coming year.
This decision was not made lightly. However, supporting students and finding a way to facilitate the search for high school has always been at the core of the Common Admission Test initiative. It’s our shared belief that this decision will help reduce some of the anxiety surrounding the grade 7 application, coupled with what has been a disruptive time for children.
Please contact each of our schools individually to learn more about application procedures for September 2021 admission. We are looking forward to helping you discover the advantages of an independent school education and meeting many of the incoming members of the Class of 2026.
In a typical school year, for information on the QAIS Common Admission Test, parents are asked to please contact the QAIS school that is of interest to you directly. (View schools using the CAT exam on our Open House Calendar).
QAIS Common Confidential Report Form
Schools have worked together to develop a form to reduce unnecessary duplication of information. The form includes instructions on how to complete, copy and submit your Common Confidential School Report Form with any one or several of the schools. The information provided allows the school to become more familiar with your child during the admission process. The completed form is made available only to the members of the Admission Committee of the school. English and French copies of the form are available below.
